Exploring Guilt

For some people, guilt that originated in earlier stages of life can block vitality and suppress natural creative energies. Often from early conditioning, especially if brought up in situations with strong religious beliefs, many of us can experience a deep sense of guilt about who and what we are, which inhibits and shapes our personality and the quality of our interactions with others.

This workshop explores our own relationship to guilt, its origins, the meanings guilt represents, the value and limitations of guilt, and how to work with guilt therapeutically.

While this workshop is particularly suited to humanistic counsellors and trainees, those from other approaches are also welcome to attend.

All my workshops are experiential, which means that I want participants to actually experience the Gestalt therapy approach rather than just being provided with intellectual information. Gestalt therapy is primarily non-verbal and as such I aim to give participants a real feel for this approach.

It has always seemed that a fear of judgement is the mark of guilt and the burden of insecurity.Criss Jami, Killosophy

Please note: Participants have choice throughout in relation to taking part in exercises and experiments. Handouts and CPD attendance certificates are supplied. Lunch is included at this venue, and tea/coffee will also be provided.

Booking policy: I don’t require a deposit, just a commitment that you will attend. You pay in full on the day by cheque or cash. This avoids the hassle of sending payment through the post. However, if you reserve a place and then cancel within a week before the workshop I would want you to pay a cancellation fee of £20. And if you don’t attend on the day of the workshop the full amount is payable.
