In any relationship difficulty each partner plays a part in the problem, although it is very common for one to believe that things would be fine if only the other would change. We are essentially relational creatures and our living experience, and problems, are all co-created between people, rather than inside an individual.
There is no partner needing to be fixed. Instead, new ways of communicating and engaging are explored in couples therapy, which provides a safe space for both partners to be fully heard.
Creating better relationships
Couples therapy can help each partner contribute more fully in creating a more enjoyable and fulfilling relationship. In my work with couples, I integrate Gestalt therapy with elements of Imago therapy. This blend facilitates impartial support for both partners while encouraging a deeper understanding of each other’s world. Please click through to learn more about relating better.
Couples can include loving partners, parent and child, or even work colleagues who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship. An initial short consultation is provided free of charge, to see if the couple feel sufficiently comfortable with me, and whether I can help with their particular problem, before committing to further appointments. After this meeting a contract will need to be completed, which you can read and download from here: therapy contract – couples. Sessions last 75-minutes and my fee ranges between £50 and £70.

We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it. John Lennon
