Living the Dream
Gestalt therapy has a unique way of working with dreams that can be very powerful for clients. Freud called dreams “the royal road to the unconscious”, while the originator of Gestalt therapy, Fritz Perls, suggested that dreams offered the possibility of “the royal road to integration” of the personality.
This is an experiential workshop for humanistic counsellors and trainees, which will explore some basic Gestalt theory by applying this approach to participants’ dreams.

Gestalt therapy is a powerful and effective approach that can bring about profound and rapid insight. It is a very creative therapy that utilises experiments to enable clients to experience themselves more fully, and to help explore alternative perspectives. Even though change is not aimed for by the Gestalt therapist, change often, if not always, takes place.
The title of this workshop, Living the Dream, is very relevant in how dream work is facilitated. If you’d like to find out more about Gestalt and the creative use of experiments, please come along. If possible bring either a recurring dream or a recent dream that you have felt affected by or curious about. If you don’t have a particular dream to explore you will still be very welcome.
My workshops are experiential, which means that I want participants to actually experience the Gestalt therapy approach rather than just being provided with intellectual information. Gestalt therapy is primarily non-verbal and as such I aim for workshops to give participants a real feel for this approach.
Please note: Participants have choice throughout in relation to taking part in exercises and experiments. Handouts and CPD attendance certificates are supplied. Tea, coffee, water and biscuits will be provided. Lunch is not included but there are many eating places nearby. There is disabled access to this venue.
Booking policy: I don’t require a deposit, just a commitment that you will attend. You pay in full on the day by cheque or cash. This avoids the hassle of sending payment through the post. However, if you reserve a place and then cancel within a week before the workshop I would want you to pay a cancellation fee of £20. And if you don’t attend on the day of the workshop the full amount is payable.
